User Data Deletion Instructions for the Africa Infrastructure, Climate Change, and Investment Summit (AICIS)

  • Brief description of the data you wish to have deleted.

Step 2: Identity Verification

To protect your privacy and prevent unauthorized deletions, we may request the following:

  • A government-issued ID or proof of identity (a redacted copy is sufficient).
  • Confirmation of specific details related to your registration or participation in AICIS.

Your identity verification documents will be securely handled and deleted immediately after verification.


Step 3: Processing Time

  • Upon receiving a valid request, we will acknowledge receipt within 5 business days.
  • Data deletion will be completed within 30 days of verification, unless retention is required for legal or regulatory purposes.

3. Exceptions to Deletion

Certain types of data cannot be deleted immediately due to:

  • Legal or regulatory obligations (e.g., tax records, compliance reporting).
  • Legitimate business interests, such as resolving disputes or enforcing agreements.
  • Anonymized data used for analytical or statistical purposes, which cannot be traced back to an individual.

If your data falls under these exceptions, we will inform you about the specific reasons during the deletion process.


4. Confirmation of Deletion

After your data has been deleted, you will receive a confirmation email. This email will include:

  • A summary of the data deleted.
  • Details of any data retained and the reasons for its retention.
